The editorial board actively encourages authors to submit contributions for the forthcoming issues (2017, no 1 and no 2), for both sections of the journal.
Ricercari:
Ricercari is a series of free papers on basic topics of music studies.
Therefore, the editorial board invites authors to submit essays about any aspect of musicological and comparative research.
Variazioni:
Variazioni is a series of papers on a given topic. Topic for 2017 is related to the University of Torino’s research line #hackUniTO for Ageing, aimed at promoting the research on senility. Therefore, the editorial board of «Gli spazi della musica» encourages authors to
submit contributions about:
Music between youth and senility
Possible but not exclusive topics could be:
- Representations and portrayals of childhood, youth, senility and ageing through music theatre and music.
- Late style vs young style.
- Representation of old age in mythology and its musical adaptation.
- Musical myths of origins and birth.
- The relationship between new and old, as well as between originality and conservation in music.
- New music and the processes of music ageing.
- Ageing as either peak or downfall (or decadentism), through life and art.
- Music prodigies and their development, both in composition and performance.
- New and old music cultures: relationships, frictions and coexistences.
- Sociology of musical youth and ageing.
- Musical anthropology between youth, senility and ageing.
January 10, 2017 for the first issue;
June 15, 2017 for the second issue.
