Full-Time, Tenure-Track Position in Music Theory

The Department of Music at Tufts University announces a full-time, tenure-track position in
Music Theory at the Assistant Professor level beginning September 1, 2014. The candidate
should have proven excellence in teaching and scholarship, and should have expertise in teaching
theories of Western art music. Secondary interest in popular and/or non-Western music is
strongly desired. We seek applicants who possess a broad vision of the relationship of music
theory to other disciplines such as the digital humanities, film and media, cognitive neuroscience,
cultural studies, or other interdisciplinary programs across the university.
Teaching responsibilities will include courses for non-majors, majors, and graduate students.
Candidates should be committed to contributing to a comprehensive and inclusive music
department. Ph.D. and teaching experience required.
