Assistant or Associate Professor of Musicology
The Benjamin T. Rome School of Music at The Catholic University of America in Washington, DC, invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position in Musicology at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, beginning August 2014. We seek a scholar with significant publication record or potential for future publications. Position duties include teaching undergraduate and graduate music history courses; advising M.A. theses and Ph.D. dissertations; participating in organizing weekly colloquia and other division events, as well as potentially collaborating with other divisions; and committee and other service commensurate with rank. The applicant’s research interests should complement those of the existing faculty; we are especially interested in scholars whose work focuses on music before 1600 or on the eighteenth century. Applicants with demonstrated experience and/or training in choral music and pedagogy are especially desirable.
Applicants must have a completed Ph.D. by Aug 2014; at least two years of full-time teaching of music history at the university level is strongly preferred.
Applicants should submit a letter of application, curriculum vitae, and three current letters of reference to be received no later than October 15, 2013. Please do not submit writing samples at this time: writing samples will be solicited from a short list of candidates at a later date.
Applicants should submit a hard-copy letter of application, CV, and letters of reference to:
