JOB: University of Vienna, visiting professor in ethnomusicology (four months)

University of Vienna: Visiting professor in Ethnomusicology at the Departement of Musicology. The Institute of Musicology at the Faculty of Philological and Cultural Studies announces the position of a visiting professor in Ethnomusicology.

Duration of Employment: 4 months  Expected start date: 01.10.2015 End of employment: 31.01.2016

Successful candidates will lecture on Ethnomusicology. The teaching duties entail 8 hours (= 4 classes) per week on different levels and the courses will be taken from required subjects for the Bachelor and Master Curricula of the department of musicology (specialization in Ethnomusicology). Successful candidates will have the following qualifications: - PhD and post-doctoral experience at a university or other research institution (Austrian or equivalent international academic degree in the relevant field) - Outstanding research and publication record in a typical ethnomusicological field, with an excellent reputation as an active member in the international academic community - experience in academic teaching and the willingness and capability to advise theses and to teach on various levels (Bachelor, Master, PhD)
Habilitation (venia docendi) or equivalent international qualification in the relevant field is desirable - good skills in communication and teamwork within the whole discipline musicology and the Faculty.
