JOB: Wesleyan University, artist/scholar in jazz and African American musics (tenured/tenure-track)

The Wesleyan University Music Department seeks a highly creative artist/scholar with a primary background in jazz and African American musics. Interests that cross disciplinary boundaries are welcome, as are additional fields of expertise. This is a full-time, tenure track/tenured position, to begin July 1, 2016. Doctorate or equivalent professional experience required. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Duties include teaching undergraduate courses and graduate seminars, directing performance ensembles, advising undergraduate and graduate theses, and

administrative duties. The teaching load is two courses per semester.

Courses in the Music Department range from introductory to graduate level. The program offers a strong undergraduate major, the M.A. in music, and the Ph.D. in ethnomusicology, all with a long-standing interest in performance and cultural studies. Particular areas of strength include: experimental and digital, American, African, East Asian, Southeast Asian, South Asian, and European musics. www.wesleyan.edu/music
