HAYDN: Online Journal of the Haydn Society of North America (http://haydnjournal.org).
HAYDN: Online Journal of the Haydn Society of North America is a peer-reviewed, Web-based publication, taking full advantage of emerging technologies in electronic media. Each year's two issues include several types of essays: traditional scholarly articles, scholarly work in progress, approaches to performance, reviews of publications, printed music, and audio/video materials, and essays on documents and library collections. Our goal is not only to present the latest and best research regarding Haydn and music of the late 18th century, but also to be a helpful resource for established scholars, newer members of the discipline, performers, and teachers. As such, we encourage submissions that: 1) explore current and emerging topics of research, 2) reconsider established information in new and exciting ways that are appealing to students and connoisseurs ofmusic, and 3) offer performers revealing and useful perspectives on performance techniques and intertextual connections.
Over the next three years, HAYDN will dedicate issues to specific topics. While we are happy to receive submissions on any subject, we especially seek materials related to the following topics
Issue 3.2 (fall 2013, initial submissions due 1 June 2013): Haydn and Form. In honor of the 50th anniversary of the original appearance of Jens Peter Larsen's "Sonata Form Problems" in 1963, we are reprinting Jerald C. Graue's English translation of Larsen's article along with essays about the article and other materials related to Haydn's structural approaches.
Issue 4.1 (spring 2014): The String Quartet.
Issue 4.2 (fall 2014): Haydn's circle: family, patrons, friends.
Issue 5.1 (spring 2015): Classical Concertos.
Issue 5.2 (fall 2015): Haydn and Pedagogy.
Submissions may be sent to Michael Ruhling, editor, via email at michael.ruhling at rit.edu. For submission guidelines, please consult the journal's Web site Submissions page (http://www.rit.edu/affiliate/
