ASSISTANT PROFESSOR MUSIC THEORY, TENURE-TRACK

We seek to appoint an Assistant Professor in the area of music theory, with a preference for candidates with demonstrated expertise and strong scholarship in the theory and analysis of 20th-century music. We seek a promising scholar who can bridge department strengths in theory and musicology, and can complement further strengths in ethnomusicology, composition, and performance. Teaching responsibilities include undergraduate core courses in music theory and graduate seminars that blend historical and theoretical/analytical studies. UCSB is known for its interdisciplinary landscape, and our department is home to a Center for the Interdisciplinary Study of Music. We therefore encourage applicants with an ability to engage students and faculty in various disciplines across our campus.
