JOB: Chinese University of Hong Kong, historical musicology (open rank)

(1) Associate Professor / Assistant Professor

The Department invites applications for a full-time faculty post in historical musicology. Other areas of specialization will also be considered, and expertise complementary to the research areas of serving faculty members will be an advantage. Appointment will be considered for the appropriate rank with reference to the candidate's qualifications and experience.

Applicants should have (i) a doctoral degree in a relevant discipline; (ii) demonstrated potential for developing as distinguished and productive scholars; and (iii) commitment to teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Applicants for Associate Professorship should also demonstrate a record of significant research achievement and successful teaching experience. Duties include (a) teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses; (b) supervision of research postgraduate students; (c) serving on postgraduate thesis and dissertation committees; (d) coaching ensembles; and (e) participating in Departmental, Faculty and/ or University committees and undertaking other administrative duties. Appointment will normally be made on contract basis for up to three years initially commencing August 2013, which, subject to mutual agreement, may lead to longer-term appointment or substantiation later.

Salary will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
